Half of Thelonious Monk's Prestige recordings are reissued on this CD in the Original Jazz Classics series. With either Percy Heath or Gary Mapp on bass and Art Blakey or Max Roach on drums, Monk introduces such compositions as "Little Rootie Tootie," "Bye-Ya," "Monk's Dream," "Twinkle Tinkle," "Bemsha Swing" and "Reflections." Although Monk was suffering from lack of work and a complete lack of recognition from the public, his music was virtually the same as it would be five years later when he was suddenly "discovered."
