Lawrence Cecil Adler, nace en Baltimore el 10 de Febrero de 1914 y comenzó a tocar en público a la edad de 14 años. Es uno de los primeros y más grandes intérpretes de la harmónica en jazz, blues y clásica. Hizo pocas grabaciones como solista pero fue muy solicitado por otros músicos como Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli, Ellis Larkins e incluso Sting con el que participó en el disco "Ten Summoner's Tales" en 1993. Fue nominado al Oscar en 1953 por su trabajo en la banda sonora de la película "Genevieve", a pesar de que no aparecía en los créditos, debido a que fue uno de los muchos artistas perseguidos por la política inquisitorial del senador McCarthy; hecho que le obligó a trasladar su residencia a Inglaterra en 1949 acusado de simpatizante comunista. Nos dejó escrita su autobiografía antes de morir un 6 de Agosto de 2001 en Londres (Inglaterra). |
